Diaper Bag
My 1st baby craft,
and i'm real real proud of it.
It turned out better then I thought.
This was my inspiration...
The Petunia Pickle Bottom Butter Cream Cake Diaper Bag.
=
349$... I know....
My version
=
50$
30$ in fabric
and 20$ in notions
I used this pattern...
The Mama Mia Diaper Bag
It's the WORST pattern ever.
For reals. I do not recomend it...
*The instructions were real real confusing.
*The pattern was printed right to left, Asian style.
*And there was extra pattern pieces that just didn't seem to go anywhere.
=
Worst pattern ever.
I was really dissapointed, and ended up winging the whole thing.
Which actually turned out great,
Because...
I added a bunch of decorative stitching,
used thick upholstery fabric,
and added some brass rings on the handles.
AND...
I love love how it turned out, and can't wait for baby, and baby stuff to carry around...
go julie! i love it. i'm impressed that you made it work..even with a terrible pattern. just shows how skilled you are.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! You are a really great seamstress for figuring out a confusing pattern. :)
ReplyDeleteJULIE! You are so talented!! I love it.
ReplyDeleteit's lovely!!! i need to commission you to make me one.
ReplyDeletevery impressive
ReplyDeleteJulie, your bag is way cuter than the 349$ one. Super cute.
ReplyDeleteThis is spectacular. I love any diaper bag that doesn't look like a diaper bag. Where did you find such amazing upholstery fabric? I think I've been dreaming of this bag my whole life.
ReplyDeleteyou never cease to amaze me!! :)
ReplyDeletegorgeous bag! I love the fabric you chose!
ReplyDeleteWell done, mama! I like your bag even better than your inspiration. How long did it take you?

ReplyDeleteso so cute! Congratulations on the baby...being a mom is the best thing ever :)
ReplyDeleteMatt's Mom said, Julie that is so gorgeous. Really spectacular. I was just saying to Mary that I wanted to make you a diaper bag for your birthday this year! Oh well, it would not have been as well done as yours. You have such a talent for creating wonderful useful things. Love you
ReplyDeleteJulie...since we're best friends...I think you should make me one. And in return, I'll send your baby SUPER cute baby clothes from Europe. Your thoughts?
ReplyDeleteps- LOOK how cute your belly is!
ReplyDeleteso cute! i want one!
ReplyDeletejulie you are already a super mom! you're pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhen I start having babies, I'm totally copying this! I love it so much!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour bag turned out great! I'm getting ready to make this pattern very soon, but just as a bag, not a diaper bag. I've glanced at the instructions, but I haven't unfolded the pattern pieces yet... I hope I don't have too much trouble!
ReplyDeleteI am about halfway done with the same pattern. It was intended as a gift for my sister. Last May. I had to give up on it, because it was confusing and I ended up wasting a ton of fabric. I'll finish it someday, but I lost my will to complete it! The actual bag itself is great, and now that I see your beautiful fabric, I wish I had chosen something a bit more elegant. Yours turned out great.
ReplyDeleteThis is a GREAT bag! I love the rich fabric.
ReplyDeleteooh, I love this! I am hunting down any and all diaper bag ideas to make me a good one too. I love how non-diaper bag yours looks! And I love all the pockets in the inside.
ReplyDeleteHi! Can you contact me? I need to get you in touch with the prizes for 3rd place on Purse Week. Congrats!

Wow! That worked! I've had problems posting unless it's a pop-up window, so I didn't think my comment through very well...anyways, it's Christie from A Lemon Squeezy Home. I can only comment here anonymously. Weird!
ReplyDeleteHello all,
ReplyDeleteReally you have created a nice site about diaper bags. These bags are generally small enough to fit on or under a stroller or buggy. There have been fashion trends against large bags, as mothers learn to reduce the number of necessities carried. Thanks....
Wow, glad I found your comment. I've been meaning to make this bag for my daughter. She wanted me to wait until she got the pattern. I told her I thought I could make it without one. Anyway the baby is now three months old, and she still hasn't got the pattern. I've just now started making my own pattern pieces and cutting fabric. Good to know someone else has done it. Thanks.
