A Dress For Mary

A Dress For Mary

I have been un-motivated as of late to finish the 100 projects I have on my list...
Fortunately this is a project I finished just before my motivation left me.
I think it was trying to find a place to live in extremely competitive and expensive silicon valley...
But we've moved, and I am itching to get my sewing machine out again.

I finally got around to taking photos of this dress.
I'm really in love with it! I made it for My sister in law Mary.
She is really great, and really funny, and really pretty....

I used one of my favorite dress patterns and altered it a little.
Newlook 6723
I have used it twice before, and it never disappoints.

I have a bunch of left over fabric that I am planning on using to make a similar dress for my self,
but I will be branching out with a new pattern.
Hopefully it will be done soon!!!

  1. Beautiful color and fit. I was eyeing fabric like the skirt section at the store the other day. Was it tricky to sew?

  2. Julie you are Amazing! I know that Mary is super cute and would look good in anything you had her try on, but this is a really cute dress! How did you do the detail on the skirt, I love it. It looks classic and fitted and You can make me dresses any day :)

  5. You are very talented. And you get a shout out from me for being from Utah and then CA. I was from UT, then TX, then CA. Now I'm back in TX (bummer), but miss CA soooo much! It was SoCal, but still.

Anyhoo. Are you still selling DIY star wars quiet book kits? The first time I ran across this blog I was so excited about them (might have been before pinterest), and then forgot about them. Tonight I looked them up on purpose, but the link no longer works. Knowing you've moved around, I understand, but I wondered if you would be willing to make any more. And then my next question--the thread looks more like embroidery floss. Is that right? And, if so, did you do all that by hand? Specifically with the lettering, do you have a machine that stitches bigger and beautifully like that, or is it like I think; by hand? If so, it's definitely a huge project to undertake, but hey. Looks awesome.
