My Star Trek Quiet Book

My Star Trek Quiet Book

I've had this project in my head for a while now,
and finally finished it.
I just loved how my Star Wars Quiet Book turned out,
and wanted to make another one.
I'm working on the pattern now,
and thinking about doing a
**Harry Potter Quiet Book
**Lord of The Rings Quiet Book
(maybe... if I can actually get through the movies...)
and
**The Beatles Quiet Book
in the future.

 ***disclaimer***
Matt pointed out that Picard has 4 dots, not 3...
He's the Captain.
AND maybe some other ranks are wrong too.
I know I know...
I didn't feel like remaking them....

  2. Ohmygosh! LOVE this! I would also love a Harry Potter book and a LOTR book (you haven't made it through the movies?!). I'm sure the Beatles book would be amazing, I just don't know a quiet book's worth about them- their songs, yes, but them. . .

    ReplyDelete
  3. That is the coolest!! Are you going to sell the pattern like the Star Wars one?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Greatest thing ever! I would totally buy this one and any other ones you make.

  21. Fan-frikkin-tastic!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Nice, but the text on the page two is wrong.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_no_man_has_gone_before#Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation

In TNG the word man was replaced with one.

A second revision would help make this fit into the fiction better.

    ReplyDelete
  23. How can I get the pattern for this?? I need it now!

    ReplyDelete
  24. PLEASE, when the pattern is ready, sell it on Etsy. I will buy it!!!

  27. That is awesome, how long did it take to make?

    ReplyDelete
  28. This is really cool and creative! I can see a market for these :).

    ReplyDelete
  29. I have no children and my nieces and nephews are past quietbook stage, but I think I need one of these very soon.

    ReplyDelete
  30. This is probably the third most awesome thing I've ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Awesome! I would buy something like that or my newborn...maybe I should just make something like that on my own :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Julie this is the so FUN! I was laughing so so hard "make Picard Human again..."
    LOVE IT!!
This is amazing EACH PAGE a memory from the PAST!!
    THANKS SO SO MUCH!!TB

    ReplyDelete
  33. DON'T CHANGE A THING...
    not even
WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE!!

    LOVE IT!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. That is the coolest thing I have EVER seen. My baby brother has a "Quiet Book," but c'mon, what do those teach you? Only how to button buttons and snap snaps. This teaches you about STAR TREK!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Page 2 should have "...no one has gone before"

    ReplyDelete
  36. This is absolutely great! Amazing work, very well done and thanks for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Pregnant with our first... totally want this. Any information on how I can either order one (and a star wars one too) or get the pattern would be fantastic!

    Amazing job!

    ReplyDelete
  38. She can't sell any part of that - intellectual property, etc. You just have to make your own! Very creative, however.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Take all of my money ....pls.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Brilliant - I would so get this for my kid (if I had one).

    ReplyDelete
  41. Bloody fantastic. Nicely done. :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. This is totally amazing! I love both your books and I would love to order the pattern or kit!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I adore this! --Sheila

    ReplyDelete
  44. Really excellent! You're wonderfully talented.

    ReplyDelete
  45. literally the best thing ever

    ReplyDelete
  46. That is absolutely awesome and extremely cuuuuuute! You've done a wonderful job of craftsmanship!

However, is "set phasers to kill" appropriate for children? It just bothers this old grandma a little.

    ReplyDelete
  47. This is unbelievable I hope you get bought and earn some royalties, awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  48. *slow clap* turns to *loud applause* and reading audience all stands to their feet and gives *thunderous applause and loud cheering*

no seriously. i am literally on my feet right now giving you a standing ovation.

    epic.

    ReplyDelete
  49. This is unbelievably awesome. Hope your blog is prepared for a forthcoming Slashdot effect because man oh man every nerd needs to see this.

    "Make Picard Human Again" FTW.

    ReplyDelete
  50. @Karen How about "Arm the
Photon Torpedoes!" they're only destroying machinery. Love this!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Nice!

If there are/will be kids using it, you might want a bit of thread connecting the snap-on pieces back to the book. I cannot tell you how glad I am to have those for our quiet book.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I LOVE THIS! I will totally buy one, will you put them in your Etsy shop!?!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Julie, I was wondering if you would like to marry me?

    ReplyDelete
  54. The world's best thing. This was linked on DinoComics, and I recommended Videogum link it, too, which they did. You are gonna get a lot of love! (and book orders!)

    ReplyDelete
  55. This is fabulous!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. IM THROWING MONEY AT THE SCREEN BUT NOTHINGS HAPPENING!!!!!! (By the way, will you be selling this?)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Please, Please, PLEASE sell the pattern to this!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I want one for myself! I would be dressing up Picard all day long!

    ReplyDelete
  59. This is just wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I have been making fabric books... but yours are trully wonderfull!

    ReplyDelete
  61. That's amazingly well done! Not to detract from its coolness, but it's spelled "Geordi", not "Geordie".

    ReplyDelete
  62. Awesome. My husband wants one. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  63. The work you put into this is astounding. It is just so many kinds of awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This is sooo very cool - amazing job!

    ReplyDelete
  65. That is awesome! I want one!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Utter epic sweetness...-The husband

    ReplyDelete
  67. Part of me absolutely loves this. Such a clever idea and so well made.

Another part of me really hopes this has been made for a boy, because otherwise I'm picturing a little girl sitting down with this book and being taught that only boys get to go into space and my heart breaks for her.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Please say this is available to purchase! This is so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  69. i really need kids... can u please post this back on etsy!!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. This is simply AMAZING. My crafting is limited to cross-stitch, but I seriously need to do this project. I would like to echo the sentiments from above and plea that you sell the pattern.

    Suggestions for the next revision:
    - Some female crew members, please! The Doc and Troy are my votes.
    - Four pips for Captain Picard.
    - Correction as mentioned above regarding the quote ("one", not "man").

    ReplyDelete
  71. You are the best mother in the world! I had to rely on a steady stream of TOS, TNG, DS9, and Voyager to brainwash my kids. You do realize you could make more of these and sell them for an outrageous price to other true believers?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Can you say ETSY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. You could sell these and make a fortune on "Think Geek"! I LOVE This project and love your ideas for others.

    ReplyDelete
  74. This might be the coolest thing I have seen in the last month! LOVE IT!

    ReplyDelete
  75. So beautiful... you are magical!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Great job. Seriously, sell this and I will have children just so I can buy one.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I followed a tweet from Jeri Ryan to this. Very fun! I love the Picard/Locutus page. Though, I would be remiss not to echo the sentiment that there really should be some women in this book. From The Next Generation you've got Doctor Crusher, Counselor Troi or if you want, Lt. Yar. I think a page of Dr. Crusher helping someone would be a nice addition to this delightful book.

Regardless, this is terrific work and I tip my hat to you for your creativity and sense of fun!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I love this. I'm going to seek out this series and watch it!

    Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Gorgeous - would definitely buy if it was available.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Whaaaat?? This takes it all to a whole new level. {clap clap cheer}

    ReplyDelete
  81. Our youngest daughter's 1st word was Data. She literally started on TNG. My gawd, she would have lerved this as a baby! Also, as a now 19 yr old!

It masterful! I'm so impressed! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing it with us! :-D

    ReplyDelete
  82. WOW that's AMAZING!!! So, so impressed.

    ReplyDelete
  83. My husband and I are planning to try to start a family in the spring and this brought back such a huge memory for me. My Grandmother made me a quiet book when I was a wee one and now my kids can have one too!! She made ours with a group and each woman (they were all women, but certainly don't have to be ) learned how to make one or two pages and then made several and then the group put them together assembly line style. That may be easier for some of us less crafty folks.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I know you're getting a lot of this, but WOW!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I seriously need to buy the pattern for this to make it for a friend. Will it be up on Etsy soon?

    ReplyDelete
  86. The criticisms are minor and not worth the effort of reading. The effort and creativity is magnificent; you are to be commended for such a noble effort.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I'm having a kid in two weeks.... How do I get one ASSP?!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  88. OH MY GAWD. This is. The coolest thing. I have ever seen. Ever. I will pay you money to make me one. Really. Like, good money. Please? I've had a shitty week and its only Tuesday.

    Please.

    Pretty please.

    I'm begging you.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Great!!! Love it sooo much!!

Also to add, there is no "e" on Geordi's name.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Just found your blog after voting for your diaper bag in the purse challenge-- and I come across this? It's amazing!!! LOVE it. Can't wait to see what else you do!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Completely, completely, amazing! LLAP!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Really, really, REALLY cool.

Coming in time for the holiday season?

    ReplyDelete
  93. Yeah, most of the pips (what you call dots) are incorrect, depending upon when in the series you have designed this, but it's still so awesome, WHO CARES?!

if you are interested in changing the pips later: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Starfleet_ranks

    ReplyDelete
  94. ohmygoodness!!!!

I stumbled across your blog via Purse week 2011 (love love loved your diaper bag by the way) and I am just in AWE of both your Star Wars and Star Trek quiet books. And you. My son would literally wig if he saw these.

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Caralyn sent me this and as I told her, this is the most awesome thing I have ever seen up until this point in my life. AND you have a Beatles one on the list? WHO ARE YOU AND WHY AREN'T WE BEST FRIENDS?! :) I wish I had the talent to pull this off!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I saw this via a tweet from Mike McCaffrey and was tickled pink. I would want this book for myself, never mind the kids.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Do you sell these? and wow. never mind my baby, my HUSBAND wants one. (me too, but in secret of course.)

    ReplyDelete
  98. My husband and I aren't really ready to have kids yet...but I may have to buy your pdf and start making one of these anyways. Brilliant. Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  99. holy schnikies. this is amazing. how do you not have a book deal and crap loads of money coming in from all of on amazon or something? seriously? i'm totally going to have to get these patterns... though not kidding i would pay more to have one already finished.... i suck at crafts.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Holy Moly!!! This is the coolest quiet book EVER!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. omg this is amazing you should post a tutorial or patterns for this......IT'S JUST TOO AWESOME!!!

    ReplyDelete
  102. I would pay any amount of money for this. Someone give me Rick Berman's credit card number.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Amazing! My husband would love this for our baby boy!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Uh-may-zing. I seriously don't think I have the talent to pull something like this off, but it would sure be fun to give it a try :)

    ReplyDelete
  105. I dont know if you are aware of this, but I found your page due to a Re-Tweet by LeVar Burton. Yeah, Geordi himself diggs your book.

    ReplyDelete
  106. These are fantabulous. I would so buy any and all that you make if you start selling them. Love love love it. I wish I had the crafting talent to do something like this.

    ReplyDelete
  107. What a fantastic idea!!! My boys and I would love one of these!!! Very very cute and beautifully done! :0)

    ReplyDelete
  108. I bow down to you! Amazing!!
My daughter sent me this link and said if I don't make one for her (as yet unborn) kids I'll never get to see them!

    ReplyDelete
  109. This is SO cool! I have no idea what a "quiet book" is supposed to be (German) but I would SO buy a book like this. Please follow through and craft a Harry Potter book, too. I'd love to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I am making the Star Trek one for my own husband as soon as I get the PDF file. He will LOVE it and probably not let any of our children play with it. I can hardly stand to wait!! I'm so excited to start work on it.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Thank you so much! This is fantastic and just looking at it made my day much better. You are amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  112. AMAZING. I'm in love with this!

    ReplyDelete
  113. This is amazing! Please do a Harry Potter one, my daughter would love that!

    ReplyDelete
  114. whoa! that is amazing. AH MA ZING!

    ReplyDelete
  115. This is so clever and well-done! I'm "pinning" it for my son once he's a little older. :) And I would buy a Harry Potter quie6t book pattern in a heartbeat. Sign me up for the waitlist!!

    ReplyDelete
  116. I am speechless right now. SSOOOOOO Amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  117. I love Love LOVE this! Awesome job! Now put it on eBay so I can buy it!! :)~

    ReplyDelete
  118. We have just finished watching this series with our 3 older children and they flipped when they saw this. Even my 9 year wants one now, LOL. Thank you so much for this. I will most definitely be making at least 2 of these for the kids. Thank you thank you thank you

  122. This is amazing and inspiring can't wait to make my own! Don't know if anyone else shared this but my geek is just insisting that I let her out so here goes. The little dots on the uniforms are called pips and Captain Picard is named Locutus when he is a Borg so if your making one yourself this might help (maybe not but again my geek had to try) I love it and hope mine comes out half as cute as yours did! Thanks for the idea.

    ReplyDelete
  123. OH MY GOD
its so nice to see another lady who likes both star trek and star wars..
    this is absolutely phenomenal

  130. This is so completely incredible! We're teaching our children all about Star Trek and I'm sure they'd love a hands-on educational aid!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Idea: a "Goonies" quiet book. There could be a coin counting page from the well scene, with the coins stored in the well bucket; Data's shoes and jacket having something coming out of them; a puzzle of the floor that falls away at the bone piano; obviously a page or two involving the ship and One-Eyed Willy...it could be good. Can't wait to see the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings models!

    ReplyDelete
  132. That is just incredible. I am going to make one of these for my little grandson. His dad is a trekkie and know this will be a big hit. Thanks so much for sharing the pattern and the detailed pictures!!

  138. That is awesome! I love it. That is the BEST quiet book Ever!!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Picked up your PDF directions on etsy a few weeks ago - I can see why you wouldn't want to make these to sell on your own! I've only made the first three pages and I think I've spent over 25 hours measuring/cutting/sewing and gluing all the pieces together. But the thing looks FANTASTIC. You're brilliant!

    ReplyDelete
  140. You are so talented!!! This is fantastic :)

    ReplyDelete
  141. Well Done! Live long and prosper...

    ReplyDelete
  142. Holy crap! You made this up?? G-E-N-I-U-S.

    ReplyDelete
  143. This is just amazing! So creative and cool.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Just so you know this is Amazing

    ReplyDelete
  145. This is great. My husband just told me that he would like to do the baby nursery in a Star Trek TNG theme and I am really trying to figure out how to do it and still keep it baby friendly. This book is so great. I'm not sure I have the skill level to make one myself but I will try. I know he will love it when I show him. Thanks so much.

  148. you are SO AMAZING and inspiring. this book is phenomenal. that being said, i JUST started watching star trek for the first time in my life, and as a girl I was so happy that Next Gen with Picard had the beginning say "Where No One Has Gone Before" instead of "No Man".....just sayin.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Do you make these to sell? If you do could you email me please???
