Flower Hair Clip Tutorial

Flower Hair Clip Tutorial
(for Kat and who ever else is interested)
Needed Items
*scissors
*paper and 5 quarters (to make the template)
*lots of colors of felt (make sure you get yellow for the flower center)
*needle and thread
*hot glue gun
*hair clips, or pins for the backing

Step 1: Make the template. You need a five petal flower. If like me, you can't freehand anything, quarters work greeeaat!

Step 2: Cut 4 flowers (per hair clip) and 2 yellow circles for the center.

Step 3: The Tough part. O.k, not really.
It's just like folding a cardboard box, but with felt, and fake petals.

When its all folded, it should look like this...
One half of each petal should be showing.

Step 4: Sew all petals together.

Step 5: Sew both yellow circles together

It will look like this
PhotobucketStep 6: Sew flower center onto flower.
Make sure to only sew through the first layer of the center.
You don't want to see the stitches.

Step 7: Hot glue a hair clip or a pin to the back of the flower.

Step 8: Make a lot so they match all your outfits,
then wear them around and look so so cute.

p.s. Use this template with fabric flowers, and buttons as the center.
The fabric edges will fray, and you will be the coolest girl on the block.

I made a few of these today with your suggested fabric/button option - I also used a different type of clip so that I could sew the whole thing in one go and not have to get the glue gun out - they turned out really well and now my two girls and I were all out and about today with pretty flowers in our hair! Thanks for this!
